Herbal Medicine is an interdisciplinary branch between Herbal Medicine and Ayurveda and it covers all the fields of Herbal Medicine related to Botany, Medicinal Plant Research, Pharmacognosy, Phytochemistry, Phytotherapy, botanical medicines, Ayurveda and Natural chemistry, Agriculture Science, Unani Medicine, Biotechnology and Biochemistry. Many people who today choose herbal products in lieu of prescription medications assume that because these products are natural, they must be safe, even when the evidence for this assertion is essentially anecdotal. Recent studies have shown that herbals are highly variable in quality and composition, with many marketed products containing little of the intended ingredients and containing unintended contaminants, such as heavy metals and prescription drugs. Therefore, this special issue on "Herbal Medicine as an Alternative to Conventional Allopathic Medicine" will cover the broad picture in the past and current knowledge of Herbal Medicine. The comprehensive picture of the current achievement on Herbal medicine will provide essential grounds for the future understanding and development. We specifically invite you as an expert in Herbal Medicine to submit an original research, review and opinion article which may contribute for better understanding and paving the direction.
