Biography

Professor Jean-Yves Reginster is the President, Chairman, the Director and Professor of Epidemiology, Public Health and Health Economics, University of Liege. He is the Head of the Center for Investigation in Bone and Articular Cartilage Metabolism, University of Liège. He is trained at the University of Liège in Belgium (MD, PhD), and specialised in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Liège), in Public Health (Nancy, France) and in Epidemiology (Ann Arbor, USA).As Professor and Chairman, he directs the activities of Public Health Sciences, Epidemiology and Health Economics of the University of Liège, where he also heads the Centre for Investigation in Bone and Articular Cartilage Metabolism. He is President of the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO), and of the Group for the Respect of the Ethics and Excellence in Science (GREES). He is the General Secretary of the Belgian Bone club.He serves at the IOF (International Osteoporosis Foundation) in the Board of Directors and in the Committee of Scientific Advisors. He is particularly interested in Metabolic Bone Diseases, in the Epidemiology, Prevention and Treatment of Postmenopausal Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis, in all aspects of Pharmacoepidemiology, Public Health and Health Economics, quality of life, and in the Methodology of Clinical Trials. He is in the Editorial Board of numerous journals, such as Osteoporosis International, Bone, Calcified Tissue International. He has written more than 600 scientific articles and more than 80 books or book chapters.
