Biography

Dafeng Hui is Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences at Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN, USA. He received his Ph.D. degree in botany with an emphasis on ecology from the University of Oklahoma and the M.S. degree in agronomy with an emphasis in biostatics and genetics from Yangzhou University, China. His research interests lie in the broad area of ecosystem ecology, plant ecology, and ecological modeling. Specifically, his research focuses on the following areas: (1) climate change effects on ecosystem carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling, (2) the effects of agricultural practices on crop productivity and greenhouse gases (such as CO2 and N2O) emissions, and 3) simulation of ecosystem carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling using ecological models. Hui has published one book and fifty papers in scientific journals such as Nature, Global Change Biology, Plant and Soil, New Phytologist, and Tree Physiology. He has reviewed manuscripts for more than 25 journals, proposals for the NSF, DOE, and other funding agencies, and serves on the NSF proposal review panels. Huis research has been sponsored by the US Department of Energy, USDA, and the NSF.

Research Interest

His research focuses on the following areas: (1) climate change effects on ecosystem carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling, (2) the effects of agricultural practices on crop productivity and greenhouse gases (such as CO2 and N2O) emissions, and 3) simulation of ecosystem carbon, nitrogen, and water cycling using ecological models
