Biography

Arthur received his PhD in English from Harvard University and for the last three decades has directed and taught in major Management Communication programs (EMBA, MBA, and undergraduate) at USC, Georgetown University and the University of San Francisco.  He has consulted in executive and entrepreneurial communication for more than 30 Fortune 500 companies and other organizations, including PriceWaterhouse Coopers, American Stores, Charles Schwab, PG&E, the U.S. Senate, the U.S. State Department, Deutsche Post, British Telecom, DHL, the USC College of Pharmacy, Safeway, IBM, Global Technologies, Citibank, Wells Fargo, and other business and professional groups.  His books on presenting to professional audiences (listed in the accompanying CV) are among the market leaders among corporate and academic readers. To date, he has written 51 books published by major U.S. and international publishers on presentation skills, management communication, language, and literature.  Together, these books have been translated into 14 languages.  Art is a 20-year resident of Marin County, where he lives with his wife, USF Associate Dean and Professor Dayle Smith and his two daughters.
