Jill Landsbaugh Kaar

Biography

Dr. Jill L Kaar is a behavioral epidemiologist and my work focuses on improving child health by teaching children healthy lifestyle behaviors early in life. She worked at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Weight Management and Wellness Center from 2004-2007. After her graduate training which focused on physical activity epidemiology, She trained in maternal and child health epidemiology. For this training, She moved across the pond and worked at the University of Cambridge in the Medical Research Council Epidemiology Unit from 2007-2010. In 2010, her career moved me back to the U.S. and to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus within the Colorado School of Public Health working on the National Children’s Study. Now, in the Department of Pediatrics – Section of Nutrition, my primary research will focus on the complex relationships between lifestyle behaviors in early childhood (i.e., diet behaviors, physical activity, sedentary time, and sleep) and their impact on child health, specifically obesity.
