Biography

Dr. Ravi K. Sajja received his PhD from South Dakota State University (Emphasis: Neuropharmacology) during the period of 9/2007-7/2012. Later he joined Dr. Luca Cucullo’s laboratory at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-Amarillo as a post-doctoral research associate during 11/2012-10/2013. While pursuing the post-doctoral training, Dr. Sajja’s major research goal was to understand the cerebrovascular dysfunction in experimental diabetes mellitus at the level of blood-brain barrier structure and function. Currently, he is working as a senior research associate in Dr. Cucullo’s laboratory at TTUHSC-Amarillo. His research interests include the development and validation of microfluidic platforms for in vitro modeling of blood-brain barrier for high throughput screening for drug transport and transporter activities at BBB, and understand the cellular/molecular mechanisms underlying the BBB function in health and disease. Based on this research and fellowship training, Dr. Sajja has received several awards and honors, such as the postdoctoral travel fellowship from the Society for Free Radicals in Biology and Medicine (2013). He has also been serving as a scientific peer reviewer for various esteemed journals. Till date, Dr. Sajja has authored nine research/review articles published in internationally well-recognized and highly reputed journals in subject areas of interest. He is currently an active member of Society for Neuroscience, American Association for Pharmaceutical Scientists, American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Society for Free Radicals in Biology and Medicine, and International Brain Barriers Society.
