Biography

Dr. Yimin Ye is a Senior Fishery Resources Officer at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. In this role he is leading the FAO assessment program of global marine fishery resources and responsible for a diverse range of fishery assessment, management and policy programs in a large number of countries around the world. He completed his PhD in fishery assessment and management at Imperial College, UK and worked with Shanghai Ocean University, China, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research, and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Australia. He has published about 60 peer-reviewed papers, and the most recent are “The global overview of marine fishery resources” and “Rebuilding global fisheries: the World Summit Goal, costs and benefits”.

 
Research Interest

Fishery stock assessment, designing of fishery management plans, harvest strategies, use of indicators and reference points in fisheries and ecosystem management, ecosystem approach to fisheries, assessment and sustainability of global marine fishery resources, global fishery policy, deep-sea fisheries, and impact of climate change on fish resources and fisheries.

1. What is the research topic you are working on now?
Stock assessment and sustainability of the world marine fisheries.

2. How many years have you been associated with the current research?
25 years.

3. How has your research precinct affected the scientific community?
It will help formulate policies and sustainably manage fisheries at natioonal, regional and global levels.

4. What are attributes for a quality article?
Clear objectives, good design, solid analysis, and useful results.

5. How does the published scientific content assist the potential researchers?
As information or new knowledge, they can inspire good research ideas and help solve practical issues.

6. Where can the journal find the maximum scope in terms of niche?
Either as a pure scientific journal or as a support to policy formulation.

7. Your opinion on conducting EB meetings at related Conferences?
No ideas for the moment.

8. How would you define your experience with OMICS Group?
I have had a minimal involvement with the Group. It is hard for me to define it.

9. Do you feel content with publication of your work with OMICS?
I have never published any article with OMICS.

10. What other aspects should be taken into consideration for Journal forbearance?
Easy access and good quality.
