Xiaolong Meng

Biography

Xiaolong Meng, born in Beijing, China, in 1961, graduated his medical college in 1985. He worked as a physician in Beijing You-An Hospital for 3 years, treating patients with hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Since he was interested in doing research, he joinedin the Beijing Hepatitis Research Institute in 1988, researching anticancer drugs. In 1991, he came to Bio-Communications Research Institute, KS, USA, as a research scientist. He had been working there for 19 years till the Institute encountered the financial crisis. There, he characterized the stem cells from menstrual blood for the first time in the world and developed them into 9 different types of lineages. The work was reported by several TV stations and got the BioMed Central Medicine Research Award 2007. In 2010, he jointed MD Anderson Cancer Center. There, he finished his new hypothesis for cancer mechanism and published itin 2011on Cancer Metastasis Reviews, the magazine ranking number 5 in cancer research field.
