Biography

Dr. Stephen Bondy was educated at Cambridge University, England where he received an M. A. in Biochemistry and at Birmingham University U. K. where he obtained a doctoral degree in Neurochemistry. He subsequently held appointments at Columbia University NY, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Colorado and the National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences, North Carolina. He is currently a Professor in the Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine, University of California, Irvine.

Research Interest

Dr. Stephen research is focussed on identifying those environmental factors, which may accelerate brain aging (e.g. aluminum). Emphasis is given to understanding the mechanisms that may underlie these events. In addition, the characterization and development of therapeutic approaches, such as melatonin administration, with the potential to slow down the rate of progression of neurodegenerative processes, is under study.
