Moosa Patel

Biography

Moosa Patel is Professor of Medicine and Clinical Haematology, Chief Specialist and Academic Head of Clinical Haematology in the Department of Internal Medicine at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, and the School of Clinical Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of the Witwatersrand. He has served the Wits academic community in the ‘Wits Complex’ at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital since 1982, gradually working his way up from being an intern until being appointed to his current position in 2002.

He serves on various boards in and outside the University which include: Executive committee member of the South African Haemophilia Foundation Medical Advisory Committee, Executive Member of the Clinical Haematology Sub-Committee of the SA Society for Haematology (SASH), Executive Member of SASH, Executive member of the Haematology Oncology Society of South Africa, Executive committee member of the National Blood Committee, Department of Health, South Africa and many other advisory and scientific committees.

Multiple Myeloma, HIV related benign and malignant haematology (including the lymphomas) and thrombocytopenia
