Biography

Bryan Lee Miller, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of criminal justice and criminology at Georgia Southern University. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florida, and his research interests are in drug use, abuse, and policy; peer influence on substance use; criminal justice policy; and offender reentry and reintegration. Dr. Miller’s research has evaluated prescription drug abuse and regulations, drug panics, and restrictions on ex-offenders reintegrating into the community. His recent research has focused on emerging drug use and perceptions of use. The main focus of this research is to evaluate the relationship between deviant peers and novel drug use. Recent publications have appeared in scholarly journals such as the Addictive Behaviors, Substance Use & Misuse, Journal of Substance Use, Drugs and Alcohol Review, International Journal of Drug Policy, Journal of Substance Use, Journal of Drug Issues, Journal of Drug Education, and Journal of Psychoactive Drugs.

Research Interest

Dr. Miller’s research interests include issues surrounding the use, abuse, and regulation of emerging drugs, novel drugs, or “legal” highs. His research focuses on the intersection of drugs and crime, drug regulations, and drug panics.
