Biography

Dr. Alok Nahata has completed his Ph.D. from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Doctor Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar (M.P.), India. He has done his postgratuation in Pharmacognosy and Natural Products from the same department. Specialization in M. Pharm was on the memory enhancing and anxiolytic activity of Shankhpushpi. Phytochemcial and pharmacological investigations on all the different varieties of Shankhpushpi was done. Markers have been isolated and characterization and standardization parameters have been developed for using analytical techniques like HPTLC, HPLC and Spectrofluorimetry. In his doctoral programme, he worked on the effect of herbals on benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate cancer. Successful phytochemical investigations led to the isolation of markers from the tested plants and new leads in the prevention and treatment of BPH and prostate cancer were developed. Dr. Alok Nahata is a recipient of Ranbaxy Science Scholar Award-2009 for young scientists in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences awarded by Ranbaxy Science Foundation,Ranbaxy Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., RANBAXY, Gurgaon, India. Presently he is engaged in development of a research and development facility at one of the reputed herbal companies in Malaysia and carrying phytochemical and pharmacological evaluation of natural products followed by preclinical studies.
