Biography

Dr. Binay Kumar Chakraborty comes from a noble Hindu family of Village: Badabortali, Post Office: Mangalshidya Bazar, P.S.: Atpara, District: Netrokona, Bangladesh. He is the third son of Late Father Sudhir Chakraborty and Late Mother. Anima Chakraborty. He passed S.S.C. Examination in 1974 in First division from Teligati B.N.H.K. Academy; and H.S.C. Examination in 1976 in 2nd division from Ananda Mohon College, Mymensingh under Dhaka board. Then he achieved B.Sc. Fisheries (Hons.) Degree of 1981 and M.Sc. (Fisheries) in Aquaculture and Management degree in 1986 from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. He has achieved Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree on the research field of Aquaculture and Management from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh in 2004. He has participated a course of Action Plan, Participatory change action plan in the Swansea University, Wales, UK. 1997. Dr. Binay Kumar Chakraborty is a Project Director, Culture of cuchia (Mud eel) and Crabin the selected area of Bangladesh and research Project. He has successfully completed Fisheries Diploma Course Implementation Project, Department of fisheries, Bangladesh. Diploma in Fisheries Courseis running smoothly now. He joined in this department on 1st June 1983 as an Upazilla Fisheries Officer. He has spent a long time as a Farm Manager and Fisheries Officer in the department. He was appointed as a Project Director in 28 October, 2011. Presently, he is working also as a Guest lecturer in the Department of Fisheries Management, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh and also working as a Focal point with Climate resilience, Ecosystem and Livelihood (CREL). He had worked as a consultant in the World Fish Center and USAID. Dr. Binay Kumar Chakraborty has developed his carrier as a researcher in the field of Aquaculture and Aquatic Environment. He has won Award of Fellowship of the Zoological Society, Dept. of Zoology, Calcutta University, India, for outstanding contribution to the field of Zoology (Aquatic Ecology & Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture) on 9th October, 2009 and another Fellow Award 2010 of the Crop and Weed Science Society, Dept. of Agronomy, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Biswabidyaloya, India, for significant contribution to the field of Agriculture (Aquatic Ecology & Environment) on 11th June, 2010. A lot of research works have been published in the international journals of different countries. Two books (Aquaculture Research Progress and Advances in Environmental Research) from Nova Science Publishers, New York, USA in 2009 and 2010 and Two research books from Lambert Academic Publication in 2012 and four other books from Bangladesh are published
